Bulk Email Considerations

When you need to communicate and reach potential and current customers, bulk email marketing is the way to go.  This huge business blossomed over the last decade or so.  A one or two percent return is what an average bulk email campaign generates.  Compared to traditional postage, bulk emails are far less expensive.  It is far cheaper to send bulk emails than pay postage for direct mailing or the cost of printed newsletters.  You send and receive emails instantly.  Bulk email marketing does have a few disadvantages, one being that if they are unsolicited, people often consider them spam.  Email that a company sends without permission could affect the sender’s reputation as people receiving them usually disapprove.  Some states have banned or limited bulk emails campaigns or spam.

Points to Consider

Before you go ahead and start a bulk email campaign or program, there are several points that you need to take into consideration.  The body of contents of your email should contain only text that is very exact and to the point.  Generally people are far more likely to read an email if it is short and specific.  A person will probably delete an email without reading it when it takes three or four paragraphs to say something that one paragraph would cover quite effectively.  All of us at one time or another has received and deleted a longwinded email.

The very last thing a person wants to do is have to put an effort into reading something, especially if it is unsolicited email.  Bulk emails sent that contain attachments take much longer for a person to download and more space so there is a greater chance of a potential customer not reading them.

If you do provide a link in a bulk email campaign, double check and be positive that the link is working properly.  People do not like clicking on a link only to find out it ‘cannot be displayed’ or has moved.

It is a good business to put the recipients first name on an email sent to them.  People are far more likely to read an email addressed to them personally.

It is best to keep the subject line brief and precise.  This is what will first tweak a person’s attention or interest when they receive the email.

If a large amount of internet users complains about unsolicited online mailings the internet service provider may block your account.

There is bulk email software available to help people streamline their bulk email campaigns.  You can download some bulk email software on a trial basis.  If you do choose to buy the software for bulk emailing, it needs to be flexible.  The settings should be adjustable so that they are sent to your specifications.  The bottom line is, be a smart shopper when it comes to bulk email software.
